ABOUT THE UTAH RADON COALITION
Mission and Vision
Mission:
The mission of the Utah Radon Coalition is to eradicate radon-induced disease by eliminating exposure to radon gas through education and awareness activities, community action, and collaborative planning and coordination.
Vision:
The Utah Radon Coalition will be the leader in the prevention of radon-related disease, the development and implementation of radon educational and awareness and community action programs, and in maximizing the effectiveness of radon programs through collaborating and coordinating with public and private organizations and private citizens statewide.
Description
The Utah Radon Coalition (URC) is an incorporated, 501(c)(3), nonprofit,
member organization that was formed in 2012. The ultimate purpose of the URC is to save lives by eliminating exposure to radon gas.
Membership of the URC is comprised of individuals and private and public organizations. Many of the individual members of URC are survivors of radon-induced lung cancer. Others are physicians and other health care providers, caregivers of those suffering from radon-induced disease, or loved ones of those who have died as a result of
radon-induced disease.
Organizational members of URC include the Utah Department of Environmental Quality Indoor Radon Program, the Utah Department of Health, local health departments, the Utah Cancer Action Network, representatives of municipal governments, and radon inspection and remediation contractors.
The URC consists of a number of committees to carry-out its work. Among those are the Education and Awareness Committee; Fundraising and Development Committee; Media and Communications Committee; New Programs Committee and a Speakers Bureau.
The URC is governed by a Board of Directors and operations of the URC are overseen by a President and CEO, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The work of the URC is carried-out by its non-paid members.
While representatives of the radon industry are members of the URC, we are not financially affiliated with any products or services of the industry.
Programs of the URC are funded by public and private contributions and foundation grants.
